The brand NES was founded in 2004 by Andrea Szilágyi (graduated from the Studio Berçot in Paris) after she stopped working for Venera Arapu and HOSES.
In its 10th season NES makes sophisticated and playful hand-made shoes and bags for self-conscious women who choose accessories that boost their beauty and match their personality. NES shoes give to the women wearing them a homelike comfort when walking and working. They are a luxurious remedy for the heart and the feet in the urban jungle.
Last season we felt we had to change. We needed to be more attentive to consumption and what we really care for. So we moved to Romania where we found the most respectful atelier and started our new series of collections called Consciousness.
These collections are reactive to the times we live in. We give a second life to some beautiful items that are no longer needed in their original form, meaning that we transform carefully selected vintage leather jackets and trousers into unique shoes and bags.
The items of the series are not perfectly identical any more, but they have the same appearance. There is a randomness of the colors and textures specific to this production process, depending on the leather that we discover. The harmonious color combinations of each piece are preserved in the series production as well, minor imperfections are intentional and add style.
Through our nine past collections, we have looked to be in tune with sustainable ideas. Starting with the first Consciousness collection we feel that this idea is best expressed.
